Last week, Devon Stills' name was not on the 53-name roster that the Cincinnati Bengals released to start their season. After two years on the team, this may have come as a nit of a surprise, but there was a silver lining to the story.
In June, Stills' 4-year-old daughter was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer. Rather than cut him all together, the Bengals are keeping Stills on their practice squad, which means he gets to be at his daughter's side and keep his medical insurance and a salary to help him finance his daughter's treatment.
